Hi, I'm Jamie (he/him) and I live in southern Wisconsin. I'm a bit of a retro computer and retro game console fan. My favorite old computer platform is the Commodore Amiga, and my favorite retro game consoles are the NES, SNES, Genesis, and Turbografx 16/CD. I don't like modern computers much, it's more of a tolerating them sort of thing. Old computers are much more interesting to me. Now everything is getting closer and closer to just being a smart phone with extra steps.

I have an electronics lab in the basement, and I enjoy repairing and modding electronics. I think my biggest success story was probably cleaning and recapping an Amiga 4000 that was living in a barn for 25 years and was battery bombed and covered in insect carcases and animal droppings. It is clean and works perfectly now.

Aside from computers I also love astronomy. I take photos of the moon when I get a chance and sometimes planets when they're in the evening sky. I have a few telescopes, and I love to do "outreach" events, like Moon over Monona Terrace. Our local astronomical society puts on an event in Madison where people volunteer their time and telescope to show the general public objects in the night sky. I also dabble in "sidewalk astronomy" where I set up my telescope maybe at a park or even just out by the end of the driveway and let passers by see what might be in the sky. Usually the moon, or if it's early evening and there's a good bright planet visible.

I also love music and I have a lot of physical media in the form of records, CDs, and cassettes.

When I die, my husband is going to have one hell of an estate sale! Haha!

Hello fellow Midwesterner with too much retro stuff and physical media!

Thats awesome that you were able to bring that Amiga back to life. I can do some light repairs and modding but I have never dove in that deep and at this point I doubt I ever will.

The Amiga is so cool and I hope someday I can have one too. Welcome!
